Functions of Food and Consumer Protection Department, Bihar Government

Food & Consumer Protection Dept. works towards the following objectives:

1. Food security to poor people.
2. Supply of food grains and other items at subsidized rate to the Above Poverty Line (APL), Below Poverty Line (BPL) and Antyodaya families.
3. Supply of free food grains to old destitute under Annapurna scheme.
4. To control price, black marketing and hoarding of essential commodities.
5. To control adulteration of Petrol and Diesel.
6. To ensure proper distribution of Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG).
7. Protection of consumer's rights and their welfare.
8. To provide Minimum Support Price of grains to the farmers through procurement.
9. Supply of subsidized Kerosene Oil to the consumers.
