History of Aurangabad

Aurangabad district is one of the districts of Bihar, and Aurangabad town is the administrative headquarters of this district. Aurangabad district is a part of Magadh division. It is situated on the Grand Trunk Road. Aurangabad features in traditional records. The Saint Chyawan spent his life in this district, and gives his name to a product of the area, called Chyawanprash. According to Hindu mythology, a deity named a small town in the area Surya Devta. In modern times, the town's name is Deo, and is the location of a popular religious festival called Chhat puja.
