History of Aurangabad Aurangabad district is one of the districts of Bihar, and Aurangabad town is the administrative headquarters of this district. Aurangabad district is a part of Magadh division. The Saint Chyawan spent his life in this district, and gives his name to a product of the area, called Chyawanprash. According to Hindu mythology, a deity named a small town in the area Surya Devta. In modern times, the town's name is Deo, and is the location of a popular religious festival called Chhat puja.
