HYMN 18 Agni

I laud your most beloved guest, like a dear friend,
O Agni, him!
Who, like a chariot, wins us wealth.

2

Whom as a Sage who merits praise the Gods have, from the olden time,
Established among mortal men.

3

Do thou, most youthful God, protect the men who offer, hear their songs,
And of thyself preserve their seed!
