Geography of Bulandshahar, Uttar Pradesh

Bulandshahr is in Meerut region of Utter Pradesh located between Ganga and Yamuna rivers. This is situated between 28.4 0 south and 28.0 0 north latitude and between 77.0 0 and 78.0 0 longitude.

The District is about 84 km in length and 62 km is breadth. The district is 237.44 meters above sea level.

The river ganga is the east separates this District from Moradabad and Badaun district and in the west river Yamuna separates the district from haryana state and Delhi. In the north of district is Ghaziabad and in south east are the borders of Aligarh district.
The geographical area of the district is 4353 sq km which is about 1.48 percent of the total Uttar Pradesh area. The urban area of the district is 122.8 sq km and rural area as 4230.2 sq km. This district is near to Delhi and is in national capital region. The nuclear atomic power plant is located at Narora town of the district. Near Sikandrabad town is located the national level satellite earth station. This is also an important grain producing agriculture District.

Administratively the district is divided in to seven sub divisions Dibai ,Anoopshahr, Khurja, Shikarpur, Siyana, Bulandshahr and Sikandrabad for development purposes there are Sixteen development blocks Bulandshahr, Gulaothi, Lakhaowati, Shikarpur, Khurja, Pahasu, Arniya, Sikandrabad, Anoopshahr, Dibai, Danpur, Siyana, B.B.nagar, Jahagirabad, Uncha Gaon and Agauta blocks.

AGRICULTURE IN BULANDSHAHR

BULANDSHAHR IS AN IMPORTANT AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT. IT HAS UNDERGONE GREEN REVOLUTION . SUGERCANE , WHEAT, MAIZE AND POTATO GROWS IN ABUNDANCE. STATE GOVERNMENT HAS DECLARE FRUIT BELT IN SYANA AREA. MANGO ARCHADS ARE LOCATED IN THE AREA. WHITE REVOLUTION IN THE FORM OF MILK PRODUCTION IS AN IMPORTANT ACTIVITY IN THE DISTRICT.

INDUSTRIAL SCENE

BULANDSHAHR IS AN INDUSTRIALLY DEVELOPING DISTRICT. KHURJA TOWN IS A CITY OF POTTERIES, WHERE TEHRE ARE MORE THAN FIVE HUNDRED POTTERIES. POTTERIES OF KHURJA HAVE EARNED REPUTATION AT NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL MARKETS.

SIKANDRABAD INDUSTRIAL AREA IS AN ANOTHER SUCH REGION WHERE SEVERAL BIG INDUSTRIES SUCH KAJARIA TILES, ORIENT CEREMICS, JP GOLD PAINTS, JENSON & NICHOLSON, RAJDOOT PAINTS, P.A.M PHARMACUTICALS ETC COMPANIES ARE LOCATED HERE.

IN BULANDSHAHR THERE IS PANNI NAGAR MILL, COOPERATIVE SUGAR MILL JAHANGIRABAD, AGAUTA SUGAR & CHEMICALS FACTORY ARE ESTABLISHED. THERE IS AN DISTTELARY IN JAHANGIRABAD SUGAR MILL.

IN VILLAGE CHOLA IS LOCATED THE BIBCOL FACTORY FOR MANUFACTURING POLIO VACCINES WITH RUSSIAN COLLOBORATION.

BESIDES LOCAL HANDICRAFTS AND OTHER ARTISTIC THINGS ARE MADE. PRINTING ON COTTON CLOTHS IS ANOTHER IMPORTANT ACTIVITY DONE BY LOCAL ARTISANS.

Local Dances of Bulandshahr - The city has a lot to offer to its visitors, this includes colorful fairs, ancient temples, green farmlands, meadows of swaying flowers and fast flowing rivers. Tourist can enjoy riding on horse carts. During navratri days in Bulandshahr - Maha Kali pooja is organized at large scale in Kali Temple where a male, dressed as Maa Mahakali, dances with sword and languriyas throughout the night. Visitors also enjoy watching old traditional classic dance forms like Kathak too.

The nearby places on the bank of river Ganga like Naroura, Rajghat, Karnavas, Anoopshahr, Ahar and Gajroula are famous centers for religious activities and temples.

Handicrafts of Bulandshahr - Bulandshahr is well known for cotton cloth printing, a popular craft done by local artistians.  The city’s local bazaar and market places shows an endless array of beautiful handicraft products, well painted clothes, accessories, etc. Some of these market places where one can experience a wonderful shopping are Kamla Nagar, Ansari Road, Chowk Bazaar, Civil Lines, Krishna Nagar and Lal Talab.

Khurja, Bulandshahar, Uttar Pradesh -

Khurja is located at a distance of approximately 17 km away from the main city of Bulandshahr. This is a famous pottery town which is situated on the main GT Road connecting the destination with Aligarh. It is further situated at about 85 km away from New Delhi. This ceramic town is also known for it's sweet, particularlyespecially Khurchan. There are more than 500 factories in Khurja which produce ceramic works and pottery. These factories provide much needed employment to the local inhabitants. This town is easily accessible from Bulandshahr by buses, taxis and auto rickshaws.

Sikandrabad, Bulandshahar, Uttar Pradesh -

Sikandrabad is mainly an industrial area, which is located around 18 km from the city of Bulandshahr. This industrial area is situated on the main GT Road connecting the place towith New Delhi. All types of paints, pharmaceuticals, textiles, cement, electronic and steel industries are located in this industrial area. This industrial area is connected by major roadways and rail routes with Delhi. The closest railway station from Sikandrabad is situated at around 6 km at Dankaur. It is also connected with important cities like Gulaothi, Khurja, Dadri, Dankaur, Jhajjar and Noida via roadways. Sikandrabad is popular for it's cold storage, milk production and pipe factories that are developed by UPSIDC (Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation).

Chola, Bulandshahar, Uttar Pradesh -

Chola is a small village located within the district of Bulandshahr and is famous for it's Bibcol Chola Polio Vaccine factory. This factory works in collaboration with a Russian company and comes under Sikandrabad Mandal. It is situated at about 16 km from Sikandrabad and around 11 km from Bulandshahr. The capital city of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow is at about 352 km from this small village.

Belon, Bulandshahar, Uttar Pradesh -

Belon is a small village located in Bulandshahr District and which is famous for the old temple of Goddess Belon. This temple is usually crowded by tourists during the months of October through March.

Anoopshahr, Bulandshahar, Uttar Pradesh -

Anoopshahr is a small town situated in Bulandshahr District and is considered to be a prominent pilgrimage centreplace, because of the Ganges River flowing from here. Tourists coming to Bulandshahr can visit this old town for taking bath in the holy river and attend the annual festivals.

Karnavas, Bulandshahar, Uttar Pradesh -

Karnavas in Bulandshahr holds historical significance. During the time of Mahabharata, King Karna used to donate 50 kg of gold everydaydaily. Tourists can also visit an old temple of Goddess Kalyani, which datinges back to Mahabharata period. This place can be easily reached by taking auto rickshaws and taxis from the main city.
